Open 2 different cases from external email not working
Hello,
I have two issues when opening cases from an external email:
1. Having the portal opened, if I click on the link to open the case it creates me a new IE session. How can I open the case in the same session?
2. User is not logged in. The user wants to open 2 cases, one in each email: first email is clicked and portal is loaded and case is opened. However once the user click on the second email just the portal is loaded in a new sessions, the case is not opened.
Parameters are properly passed, because when you to open each email separately it works fine.
Any clue?

If I understand you correctly, you have to separate emails with links to completely different assignments/work objects. Question 1 suggests you have an open browser window with a Pega Platform session already running, you want to click on the link and open it in there. Unfortunately, the email isn't part of the DOM, so there isn't a way to target that window that I am aware of. With your second question, I assume the second link opens a new window with the multiple session warning, is that correct? That is by design. We don't want you logged into multiple widows but using the same session cookie. That can result in the same object being open in different windows and stale data overwriting fresh data. To avoid the data corruption potential, we don't allow it. There are ways to have more than one browser session using their own cookies, but then the second session will get a lock message if trying to access the data being worked on by the first session.

Hi Mike,
I am not getting this multiple session warning.
I have read there are 2 ways to open cases from an external email. By opening the entire portal, or just by snapshot the case. Our client wants to open the portal and the concrete case from the email in a new tab. And also to be able to open a second case (if possible as a new tab, if not possible in a new session window again with portal and case).
From my point of view it make sense. Did someone has a similar requirement?

Any update on that? I need to open 2 cases from external emails link into same PRPC session. Is that possible? Through the link we first open the portal and then the case passed by parameters in a new tab. The idea is to open second case under same session in a new tab.
In case this is not possible. How can we open both cases in separate sessions? So far only first case is opened. When we click second case link it only PRPC only opens the portal.
We are working in P5.
Any suggestion will be very welcome.

Hi Phani,
In the email we received a link “OpenCase” where URL and parameters are embedded. If we right click OpenCase link the only options available in IE are Select, Open & Copy Hyperlink. Then, the only option to open both cases for end users will be to copy hyperlink, create a new IE Session and paste the hyperlink, is that right? or is there any way to create this new session directly from the link using ‘iexplore –nomerge’?
Could you please give more details on steps to fix that?
Otherwise I don´t think this is valid approach for end users… same that we do with ‘iexplore –nomerge’ we can do it with File > New Session.
