Not able to get setup wizard in 8.7
Hello Team,
I have installed PE 8.7 and followed Pega installation document to install Pega CDH 8.7 on top of PE8.7.As per this course Running Pega Customer Decision Hub setup wizard | Pega Academy, i have created system architect operator id and then mapped it AG CDHTemplate:CDHTemplate:CDHInstall.
I logged in with system architect operator and creating new application, could see not seeing option to setup wizard. Instead, its directing normal application creation screens , not the setup wizard. Attached ss
Can you pls advise what i am missing here. Thanka!
i have followed below step by step process to install

May I ask why you are creating new applications on old software? Pega 8.7 is on extended support and not actively supported anymore. Also, Customer Decision Hub has changed substantially since version 8.7 with many enhancements and new features. I would recommend that you use a Pega Trial system if you are trying to test drive the application. It is different than Personal Edition but allows you to do many of the same things as PE.

CDH 8.7 version does not support running setup wizard from New Application wizard. If the system architect operator that you have created is mapped and defaulted to CDHTemplate:CDHInstall access group only, then on login to this operator should by default launch the CDH Setup wizard.
This is mentioned in the documentation Running the Pega Customer Decision Hub setup wizard | Pega as below.
- Log in to Dev Studio as the system architect operator in the CDHTemplate:CDHInstall access group.
Result: The system launches the Pega Customer Decision Hub setup wizard.
The same is also mentioned in the academy course.
If you want to run the CDH Setup wizard from Dev studio, then you can do it from Launch portal -> CDH setup wizard.

@sethr, @Megha007 Thanks. Incorrect AG is mapped and its been corrected now. Could see setup wizard.
However, Setup wizard got stuck while defining context class . couldnt not any clue in logs Attaching screenshots and logs(from tomcat, pega, server) as well.
Your help would be much appreciated here.
i see quite few exceptions 'duplicate key value violates unique constraint "pr_sys_ruleset_index_pk',
Please note that i am trying this setup after importing CDH8.7 softwares in PE 8.7 for my POC's
Background Context:Our application still runs on CDH 8.7 and would like to do few POC's on NBAA

@PonnurangamN1990 Mario is correct in stating that what you are using is now outdated. Any product issues you encounter need to be replicated on supported enterprise software.
Please have a look at the limitations of using the Community Edition/ Trial edition softtware as described in the support document Working with Pega Platform Trial and Community Edition
It includes App Studio, Dev Studio and Prediction Studio only.
This is also shown in the Community Edition download page and the Community Edition FAQ..
This indicates you cannot install Customer Decision Hub (CDH) on top of the Pega Community Edition, Personal Edition, or Trial Edition software. These editions are not designed to support such frameworks.

@Supraja.V indicated this in this PSC post.
@sethr please can you check the steps you provided before?

Log in to Dev Studio as the system architect operator in the CDHTemplate:CDHInstall access group.
Result: The system launches the Pega Customer Decision Hub setup wizard.
If you want to run the CDH Setup wizard from Dev studio, then you can do it from Launch portal -> CDH setup wizard.

@sethr are you sure that CDH install can be run from a Community Edition platform?
One of the prerequisites listed is:
- Enable decisioning nodes.

The user states that they "..imported CDH8.7 softwares in PE 8.7 " ' and their issue now is :
" Pega Customer Decision Hub CDH Setup Wizard Setup wizard got stuck while defining context class .i see quite few exceptions 'duplicate key value violates unique constraint "pr_sys_ruleset_index_pk', "

Hope you are doing well. Hope the following steps help you.
1. Verify User Permissions:** Ensure that the System Architect Operator user (created as per Pega documentation) has the following permissions: - Application > New Application > Build - Application > Setup Wizard > Execute - Application > Template > Assign
2. Check Server Logs: Examine the Pega server logs (`prlogging.out` and `prconfig.out`) for any errors related to the setup wizard.
3. Verify Template Assignment: Confirm that the AG CDHTemplate:CDHTemplate:CDHInstall template is assigned to the new application you are creating.
4. Try a Different Browser: Access the Pega application using a different browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox) to rule out browser-specific issues.
5. Clear Browser Cache and Cookies: Clear your browser cache and cookies to ensure that you are not experiencing cached issues.
6. Restart Pega Server: Restart the Pega Server to refresh the application settings and eliminate any potential issues.

Additional Considerations:
The Setup Wizard option is only available for new applications. If you are trying to create a new version of an existing application, you will not see the wizard. Make sure that the CDH package is installed correctly and activated. You can check this in the Pega DevOps Console under Packages. Ensure that the CDHInstall activity is available in the Application > Setup Wizard > Activities list. If it's missing, you may need to re-import the CDH package.
Thank You

@MarioBatres Thanks for the info. The limitation i see with trials is , available for a month. I would like to do offline POC's for my CDH learning. Any thoughts pls?

Personal Edition software was retired last year and is no longer supported. Your POC with CDH should , in theory, work but it requires advanced node configuration which we cannot guide you through via a forum post.
CDH requires node types that do not exist ootb on Personal Edition and we are informed that previous users who have attempted this setup have met with many technical obstacles to try to get this to work. As this is not Enterprise software it means a support ticket can also not be logged with GCS.
To answer your final question - If you wish to “do offline POC's for CDH learning” then your only option is to use the resources available on Pega Academy, and to read through the community resources listed under . CDH Community Events and CDH Enablement Series.

@PonnurangamN1990 If this POC is part of project work, you could request a Pega Labs instance to be provisioned. Pega labs provides facilities to install previous versions of Infinity and Pega applications.

@MarioBatres Thanks for your response. Does Pega lab need separate license or part of enterprise edition?
I couldnt see any instances in my login? Could you please advise?
