In Recording robotic automations Challenge, Adapter Exception for BankerInsight App
Hi,
When I try to record the BankerInsight Application through Pega Robotics Studio, I keep getting the Adapter exception:
An unhandled exception occurred within BankerInsight. Would you like to shut down the adapter.
Exception Message:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
In the window, if I select yes, I get Unable to interrogate control. It may have been destroyed. One or more steps may not be recorded.
I have attached the screenshots for reference. Please help me get this issue resolved.

Gouri, I see you already updated your PRS version as you had a previous post, so I am assuming that you updated and are receiving a new error. I will loop in support because it may be a bigger issue than the challenge. Thanks for your patience.

Gouri, when you updated your install, was Chrome or Edge still open during the installation process for Pega Robot Studio? Can you check in the browser if your Pega Extension is enabled? If not, please do so. and then restart Pega Robot Studio to try to the challenge.

Thank you for your response.
I actually removed my previous robotics projects, then uninstalled the previous not working Robotic Studio and PNF versions through programs and features. Then I reinstalled the newly downloaded version from the challenge when I got the newer version.
I did not have any browsers open during browser extension installation. I also enabled the extension in both chrome and edge. I also set each for default browser to see if I things are working in for the web application to make sure its not that specific browser issue.
For the web application recording I do not see errors but I don't see the gear icon on hover for the controls either.
For the Windows application I get the shared error.

Thanks Gouri. That info helps to better understand what is going on. I was not successful in the recreating your issue on my machine.
I have sent an email to support to assist. I will include this information to them as well, as it helps pinpoint where we may have solution.

As of today, our support members are not able to reproduce your specific error. Do you know if you are running and security software application on your computer? If so, that may be the problem. Because the technology that PRS uses injects into the application code, sometimes settings on security software block that access Robot Studio needs to interrogate.
Can you check with your organization if that is the case? You may need to work with your IT to allow that with your security software. A similar documentation article is found here that may help explain what may be required by your IT department.

I am following the course on my personal laptop, and I have disabled both Windows Defender and the Ant-ivirus software. Also I tried adding them to the anti-virus exclusion list.
I still get the same error after that.
I am thinking of removing the Pega RPA software I downloaded from the challenge(those are the only Pega RPA software I have) and reinstalling the file. Can you please give me the link to any guide or can you please give me the exact steps I should follow to achieve this? May be I didn't get the previous non-compatible version from the exercise completely removed when I uninstalled it. (I had an issue with the PNF version not being compatible with my OS version.)

I have uninstalled Pega RPA as per the instructions and reinstalled the software downloaded from the mission challenge.
At the moment, Interrogation and Recording is working for Web Applications. The green/ blue gear icon for the intelligent recording is displayed partially.
However, I still see the same error for the Windows application Interrogation and recording for the BankerInsight application.
I also tried Interrogatio of windows applications like Excel, Calculator and Notepad. They do not throw the error but can not interrogate or record. When Interrogating the Interrogation window closes by itself for the calculator, and Recording does not show the gear icons on hover. Also when stop recording Calculator and Notepad doesn't close even though Recording window is closed. Excel closes when the recording stops.
Sometimes, the whole Robotic Studio goes unresponsive when trying to work with Windows applications.
In conclusion, the Robotic Studio is still not responding to Windows applications for me.

The most likely cause of the reported issue is :
- security software on the user's local system is blocking the banker insight app from being interrogated by Robot Studio, or
- one of the other components, such as Pega Native Foundation, is out of date.
