Marketing Upgrade 7.11 to 7.4

Hi, my telecom project is getting upgraded from 7.2.1 to 7.4. We have Marketing 7.21 which needs to be upgraded to 7.4 too. Since there is no direct upgrade for Marketing and we need to follow a sequential process, and due to some other constraints we are doing a fresh install and upgrade method; we need to validate and conform to the best approach:

DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT

  1. Phase 1 (upgrade to 7.3.1):
    1. Install 7.3.1 Pega platform
    2. Copy Rule and Data from 7.2.1
    3. Install Marketing 7.3.1
    4. Perform post-upgrade steps for 7.3.1
    5. Save a copy/product archive of this 7.3.1 code
  2. Phase 2 (upgrade to 7.4):
    1. Perform Rules and Data upgrade on Pega platform from 7.3.1 to 7.4 (lift and shift)
    2. Install Marketing 7.4
    3. Perform post-upgrade steps for 7.4

    5. Install Marketing 7.3.1
    6. Perform post-upgrade steps for 7.3.1
  2. Phase 2 (upgrade to 7.4):
    1. Perform Rules and Data upgrade on Pega platform from 7.3.1 to 7.4 (lift and shift)
    2. Import application 7.4 (upgraded) code from DEV (from step 2c above)
    3. Install Marketing 7.4
    4. Perform post-upgrade steps for 7.4

Is this approach correct (for the higher environment) or can we skip the 7.3.1 upgrade steps altogether:

  1. Install 7.3.1 Pega platform
  2. Install Marketing 7.3.1
  3. Import Pega platform 7.4 (upgraded) code from DEV (from step 2c above)
  4. Copy Data from 7.2.1
  5. Perform Data only upgrade on Pega platform 7.2.1 to 7.4
  6. Perform post-upgrade steps for 7.4

Please suggest!

Hi,

I hope you are planning to upgrade from PegaMarketing(PM) 7.21 to PM 7.4, subject its mentioned as 7.11.
