Importing rules package (RAPs) from Pega 7.4 to Pega 8.6.4
Hi All - We are planning to upgrade our apps built on CSFS 7.4 stack to 8.6.4 - Azure cloud
Can we directly package our code (all our Apps) and import into fresh Pega 8.6.4 CSFS stack ? and data we will upgrade separately by running data only upgrades.
Is this the recommended way of upgrading . please advise

@KiranUYou can usually achieve the same , by simply cloning the Rules schema, and connecting it to your newly created 8.6 environment.
Per my knowledge, that is the recommended way of achieving the rule migration, as this approach would not depend upon developers packaging the rules, and hence perhaps missing out on some of them.

Are you saying we dont need to upgrade Rule schema and just point the old schema to new 8.6 env ?
How would the table schema changes (usually what the upgrade scripts do) handle in that case.
Then I'm thinking why did the Pega ship the upgrade scripts etc. ? :)

@KiranU Maybe I confused you with my response. The rule schema upgrade has to be done when you are doing the upgrade, but my point was if you can run the upgrade SQL on the Rules schema, and then connect it to the newly upgraded environment, your code (already present within the Rules schema) would be automatically present within the new environment as well, so there is no need for you to do a manual code deployment.
Code deployment would only be required if you are doing an out-of-place upgrade, and with a completely fresh PEGA environment. In that case also, simply cloning the rule schema from the PEGA 7 environment, and then running the upgrade script on it, should solve your code base problem.
