Why does Visual Studio close all open files when I run a solution?

A couple of days ago Visual Studio started closing all open files when I ran a solution. While the solution would run I could not do any debugging because I could not open any files, even the right click menus stopped working (displaying). When the solution was stopped I could still not open files and 99% of the time if I tried Visual Studio would crash.

I am curious why this question is even in this community. Visual Studio is a Microsoft developer tool unless you are referring something else. Can you clarify?
