Using previous case data in the new case
Hi
I am new to Pega and trying to learn it by creating some applications.
I have a requirement in my application that whenever a new case is created all the fields in the case should get populated by the value of the fields from some old case created earlier. There are different kinds of properties in my case like a field, field groups, and field list.
Can someone please guide me through this?

I think I would try to put all those data on a single top level page under pyWorkPage. It might be easiest to copy over.

I was trying to connect my data types to the Pega system of record and saving the data to a page. I was thinking to somehow use this saved data to populate the properties of the new case.

You may receive other ideas, there isn't just one way of doing it I guess.
On a normal WorkObject you usually have all your data within pyWorkPage. All your Page-List, Value-List, Properties basically all your data.
So pushing data from one WorkObject to another might be tricky because you will end up pushing one by one and adding new stuff during the lifecycle of your case.
But if instead of saving everything under pyWorkPage you decide to save your data under another page say "MyData" then you will just have to copy MyData page and nothing else.
The downside is the fact that you need to take that extra page into consideration on your entire configuration.

Hi,
Create a parameterised data page with Look Up configuration.
Fetch the pyID of the latest created work object based on pxCreateDateTime.
Invoke the date page by passing the pyID. It will retrieve the information of the previous created work object.
Now while creating the case as part of the first step Flow action Pre-Processing Data transform create a data transform and copy the data from the data page if all the data of the previous case is required this is not a better option as it will over-ride the px and pyproperties. Set the important info that is required one by one. For embedded properties like (Page or Page List ) assign directly so that entire data of the corresponding page will be copied to the target attribute.
