Inbound Email - Displaying Email Body with Embedded Images
Hello,
When an email receives, Email Listener process the email and creates a Case.
Once the Case is created I need to display the email Content to the user as it is. So, I've configured the pyInboundEmail.pyBody to be displayed in a RichText format Control.
Now, the email content is being displayed in HTML mode. But, if the email has any embedded images, those images are not displaying, even though the images are available in attachments of the Case.
Is there any way to display embedded images along with the email body content?
Regards,
Rajesh

Which version of PRPC you are in? And also how are you adding images either as an attachment or as within the body of the email?

I'm using 6.1 SP2. I'm attaching the images with in the body, not as an attachment. So, there is a missing image icon being displayed.

In PRPCML8 , Pega introduced a new feature in email listener named "Embed data for inline images into HTML".
Copied from help:
Embed data for inline images into HTML - if enabled, allows inbound email containing inline images to be rendered correctly when the email is processed as HTML. Enabling this option both base64-encodes the image as embedded HTML content, and does not attach inline images to the generated HTML message.

This helps with Pega version 7.1.19.
But, is there any way to resolve this issue in 6.1 SP2?

You would probably need to replace the <img src="filename"> with something like
<IMG SRC=”data:image/gif;base64, R0lGODlhCAAFAIABAMaAgP///yH5BAEAAAEALAAAAAAIAAUAAAIKBBKGebzqoJKtAAA7″ />
where the base64 data will be coming from the image attachments you might have with the case. The correct format should be
data:[<mime type>][;charset=<charset>][;base64],<encoded data>
as in
<IMG SRC=”data:image/gif;base64, R0lGODlhCAAFAIABAMaAgP///yH5BAEAAAEALAAAAAAIAAUAAAIKBBKGebzqoJKtAAA7″ />
