Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for Android requires a new protocol for sending push notifications to Android mobile devices. To support this new Google security standard, Pega will include the support in the upcoming Pega Customer Decision Hub™ ’24.1 release and provide the required hotfixes for supported Pega Customer Decision Hub versions. Google will no longer support the Legacy API for Push Notifications on June 21, 2024.

HFIX-B1483 requires Pega Platform 8.7.6 and Platform Hotfix HFIX-B455

Impact
Before June 21, 2024, all customers sending push notifications to Android mobile devices must update to the latest Pega Customer Decision Hub release or apply a hotfix.
Do the following:
- Apply the Pega Customer Decision Hub hotfix.
- Configure the Firebase server account configuration for the current applications and use it then configuring new ones, as described in the Suggested approach section.
Suggested Approach
- In App Studio, click Settings > Channels > Push Notifications.
- Click Add application to add a new application or open an existing one.
- Upload a new JSON file that contains the Firebase server account configuration or select an existing Firebase service account configuration from the list.
- Click Submit, and then save the configuration
- Test the updated certificate set by verifying that your app receives automatic and manual push notifications.
