Use of Custom Field
Team,
Can you please let me know the use of Custom Field? When do we use it?
Custom fields are key value pairs and used as metadata for reports. I am looking for realtime example where/when exactly we need to use the Custom field.
In Pega 7.1.6 -> Flow Action -> History tab -> I don't see Add buttons under Custom fields section, but I see update button.

- Following is the help in 7.1.7 for custom fields:
Custom fields
This section displays a list of name-value pairs, or custom fields, associated with this rule. Click Update to launch a dialog with options to add, edit, and remove custom fields. Text (string) and File (rule file binary) custom field types are supported.
This section appears for Rule- objects only.
So Update button is the one that needs to be clicked to add custom fields! FYI: In pega 7.1.7, button label is "Add field", but help content refers to Update!!!

Regarding the real time examples, I have never used, but guess it is used to identify set of rules based on a criteria, say for example if I want to tag all rule changes for a particular bug fix then adding the custom field BugID = ' BUG-12345' to the rules modified/created for this bug fix.
Similarly if we want to tag rules for a feature, CR, enhancement, specification etc. May be like a tagging feature?
