The TCP/IP connection to the host <db_servername>, port 1433 has failed after upgrading to Pega 07-10-20
Hi,
After upgrading to Pega 07-10-20, I get the below errors in the catalina.out file
PRMiniLoader - unable to load classes from the database: Cannot create PoolableConnectionFactory
(The TCP/IP connection to the host <db_servername>, port 1433 has failed.
Error: "null. Verify the connection properties.
Make sure that an instance of SQL Server is running on the host and accepting TCP/IP
connections at the port. Make sure that TCP connections to the port are not blocked by a firewall.".)
Caused by: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: The TCP/IP connection to the host <db_servername>,
port 1433 has failed. Error: "null. Verify the connection properties.

The DNS server name was not recognized so I changed the server name to its IP in the context.xml file and now it works

This looks like a sqlserver specific configuration issue, unlikely related to Pega. For example, check this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18841744/jdbc-connection-failed-error-tcp-ip-connection-to-host-failed

Hi,
I already checked that website and others and already tested network connections for that port and I'm able to connect. Before the upgrade I was able to use the system properly.

I assume you tested connectivity from the machine where prpc is running, using MS management studio with the exact db credentials of the prpc instance? If that is done and successful, please attach the complete log file for us to review.
