Referencing rules option is not working in pega 8.3.1 version
Hi Team,
I am using pega 8.3.1 version and apache tomcat server. I am not able to view the "referencing rules" in our current version. i also followed the link https://collaborate.pega.com/question/how-find-referencing-rules-after-flash-player-not-available to update the mms.cfg file for Crome browser, but could not find the relevant file in my local.
So please suggest is there any other way to make the "View references" working for any rule.

@ChandraS8619 can you confirm that you are using the Referencing Tool rather than the Flash-based method in the outdated forum post?
This replaces Pega built-in rule referencing tool to use auto-generated UI and be Flash-free
This component replaces the current implementation with an auto-generated UI and removes the dependency on the Flash technology. It provides the same functionality as the current tool but has a modern UI aligned with the Dev studio look and feel as well as some better integration with the ruleform.
There are 2 different download files: one for Pega 7.3 / 7.4 and one for Pega 8.x
Please confirm that you followed the steps outlined on Pega Marketplace for the 8.x download and followed the steps in the article Finding rules by dependency

i am using Flash player approach. Now i downloaded the Referencing toll for 8.x from the link which you shared . So, can i go head and import the zip file and after import the "view references" will work as expected or do i need to perform any specific steps.

@ChandraS8619 the link Finding rules by dependency under the 'Support' title contains instructions for Pega 8.4 and later when using the product method. Apologies, I've just noticed you are on Pega 8.3.1.
The article below goes into more details for the Pega 8.4 and later releases which again use a built-in tool:
Adobe Flash Player deprecation end of year 2020
The Referencing Rule viewer was changed in Pega 8.4 to use auto-generated UI.
The Declare Network viewer will be updated in Pega 8.5 to use auto-generated UI.
These viewers are available on Pega Exchange as components but only supported for some specific Pega Platform releases (not all released are supported)
The tool you downloaded should be compatible as it is listed:
COMPATIBLE WITH
7.3, 7.4, 8.1, 8.2, 8.3

Please try to follow this steps it should work for you. You can refer to my screenshot below.
- Open Application Definition.
- In Enabled components, click on Manage Component to get Pega exchange pop up.
- In the pop-up, click on Browse Apps and Component button, it will redirect to the Pega marketplace.
- Search for Rule Reference component in the search box provided. This will give the list of components. Click on the component
- Click on Download to get a zip of rule reference component.
- Navigate to Application Definition > click on Manage Component > Pega Exchange pop up.
- Click on Install new button and add downloaded zip to it.
- Now save the application to use the rule referencing component.
- Open a rule whose dependencies you want to investigate.
- Click Actions > View references. This results in opening slide panel i.e. Referencing Rules pane from the right.
