Pega Webchatbot - passing information from chatbot to the hosted site.
Hi,
We have built a Pega webchatbot in v8.5.2, we have it for web and mobile apps (android and iOS). I believe we don't have mashup sdk so we in mobile apps we are initiating a browser view to open the chatbot once user clicks on button in app.
Now we have requirement where we want to pass some information from chatbot to the host. I am aware of sending custom information from host to chatbot through pegaPrepareParams but this is other way around. Can anyone help if its possible to send info from chatbot to host.

@AbhilashR1892 There are two ways to do this.
https://community.pega.com/knowledgebase/articles/user-experience/85/mashup-javascript-page-actions specifically the getGadgetData API. That is however a pull action, which means that the property in question must be loaded on the harness in the mashup and this API has to be invoked at the desktop.
If you want to push the data from your mashup, you can invoke a postMessage call from the mashup to the desktop. You will need to update the post message listener in the PegaHelper.js file to listen for this and to take action. For example, we have the following code in the GuideCSS HTML Fragment rule:

Then, in the GuideHelper.js file, the following code is present to catch this event.

@Amit_Patel Thanks for the reply. Is their any existing variable to know if Live Chat session is active or not? I see there is a variable - chatSessionStatusKey. Can we use this to know if Live Chat is active.

@AbhilashR1892 If there is an active chat, there should be a cookie called activeChat_customer present with a long value of the current chat ID. This cookie is used to resume the chat if you refresh the page or navigate to another page. If this cookie is present, there's an active chat.

@Amit_Patel Thanks for the reply. We are facing an issue where Pega is on subdomain(xxx.mydomain.com) and hosting site is (mydomain.com), the cookie activeChat_customer is set on (xxx.mydomain.com), host site in not able to read the cookie.
Can we set it on main domain? I believe ChatLoader.js is used to set this cookie.

@AbhilashR1892 localStorage.getItem("chat-session-connected") on the main domain should work as well. Check for the value of "true" to see if it's connected. This item will either not be there, or will be "false" if chat is not active.
