Pega Marketing to output to file with date stamp included in the filename?

Hi,

We are implementing Pega Marketing, and we will need to output the result of Campaigns to a flat file and pass over to printer house for printing of DM.

Is there anyway of naming the output file such that it will contain the date/time stamp in the filename? We like to generate a unique file for each of the campaign run so that we are able to rely on the file in the event of any dispute arises.

There is currently no direct way in the product to achieve this currently.  What is possible today is to create a output finalization extension using the Advanced section of a file template.  There you can specify an activity to run on file finalization.  That activity could copy the file to a location or name of your choosing that includes today's date.  See the user guide for 'Configuring File and Table Finalization' here: https://docs-previous.pega.com/pega-marketing-731-user-guide

Our output file will be generated at different time of the day, how can we fix the finalized time schedule. Any better way that we can solve this problem.

Community plse help

A simple task yet not able to achieve ?

Can you please make it clear - if you are expecting 1 file per day or more than that ? If it is just 1 file per day then Saleem's comment earlier is fully valid.
Why are you not able to do this in the finalization extension of the file template configuration ?
If you are looking for more than a single file in a day (same file name) and looking for a LESS than a "Daily" schedule in the Finalization of the file template ?

Unfortunately daily is the least you get OOTB in the template rule.
Also please note - your finalization schedule even if set in the file to be hourly or less than that - your solution won't be fool proof.
The reason for that is the campaign's end life cycle is NOT really tied with the finalization of the file.
If there is a schedule overlap between campaigns and file finalization - you will get a mix of records.
 
Can you possibly think of adding a additional column / property in the file template to differentiate the records and still do daily finalization ?
For example :
Name AddressLine1 AddressLine2 zipCode RunIDentifier
aaa               bbb                            ccc                               1234                  .ProgramRunID (PR-4125)
 
Just like the above example, the template could be configured to output the ProgramRunID under the PegaMKT-Work-Offer class.
