Need help in Pega 7.2 personal edition installation error

Hi All,

I'm getting the below data base connection error log while trying to install pega .2 personal edition in windows7 O.S.

Could you please help me out to resolve the issues?

Error log:

[exec] Result: 1

BUILD FAILED
D:\115008_PE72\pegaGuiInstallerTemp\build.xml:156: Unable to connect to database within 15 seconds.

Total time: 42 seconds

Hi Deeskhith,

I suppose this might be OS issue, We had one instance in which Iuser had one 7.1.7 version which got installed in windows 7 without any problem but 7.2 is not working for some windows 7, however it is working on windows 10 without any issues.

Can you try in someother OS and let us know the update. Please check below link for reference,

Can you check your postgresql? 

open pega installation folder select psql under psql open bin folder under that run psql.bat file.

if you could open and able to login no issues, if not please reinstall it again.

Thank you bala,

But, I'm getting this error while doing installation itself like " Unable to connect to database within 15 seconds".

After this error installation is getting cancelled.

Could you please help me on this?

Hi Deekshith,

Can you try Disabling any antivirus softwares in your system and see.

Hi deva,

 

I tried even disabling the antivirus software, Windows firewall, Defender and windows update too, Still seeing the same error "unable to connect data base" . :(.

Would it be issue with O.S (Windows 7 ultimate 64Bit)?

Could you please help me?

Hi Deekshit,

Just check for the error you are getting above "[echo] Waiting for Progress to start...
Unable to connect to database.. will retry in 1 second..
Unable to connect to database.. will retry in 1 second..
Unable to connect to database.. will retry in 1 second.."

You might see the following error:-

[exec]initdb: directory "C:\PRPCPersonalEdition\pgsql\data" exists but is not empty
[exec] if you want to create a new database system, either remove or empty
[exec] the directory "C:\PRPCPersonalEdition\pgsql\data" or run initdb
[exec] with an argument other than "C:\PRPCPersonalEdition\pgsql\data"

In such scenario, make sure to completely delete the "data" folder or best is you can completely delete "PRPCPersonalEdition" folder. In case the system skips some files/folders while deleting these folders, just restart the system, go to Start-> type '%temp%'-> select All & delete all the files and folders and then try deleting 'PRPCPersonalEdition' from C drive as well.

Once the folder is completely removed, reinstall Pega using install.bat, it will install smoothly and even Port 5432 & 8080 would be available.

Note: 5432 might not be available when error occurs, but after removing the temp and Data/PRPCPersonalEdition folders, the port becomes available.
