How to route/assign a case to an Operator ID?
If I have a dropdown of Operator IDs on a view, how can I route/assign the case to the selected Operator ID? And if I am creating a new case of a different case type, how can I create this new case and have it routed/assigned to the selected Operator ID?

So many ways for doing this which version of Pega are you using?
Basically the drop down selection will be pushed to the clipboard and it is just a matter of having a routing activity using the expected property to route/assign correctly.

I am using Pega 8.2.2. I thought it would probably be an activity. Is there a Pega function I can call and pass the Operator ID to? Or properties to set in pyWorkPage? I found some info, but nothing specific enough.

Check out the Pega OOTB flow action "pyTransferAssignment" for this requirement.
Either you can reuse this or check the Post action Activity which has the logic for routing.
