Default Encoding in Service File Rule.
There is a 'default' value in drop-down for character Encoding under Data Description section on Method tab of Service File Rule. Can you please advice, from where the default encoding is taken? Does this depend upon application server or database settings?

The default encoding is from the JVM used by the application server on which Pega is deployed. JVM derives this from the system (OS) where the application server is deployed. You can override this default JVM encoding using JVM argument file.encoding.

The default encoding is for UTF-8, the encoding is set on the JVM and PRPC supports these encoding supported in java jdk. For more information refer: http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/api/java/nio/charset/Charset.html

We were seeing some issue in rendering Chinese characters in our UAT env while it was all fine in SIT. So i doubted the character set setting. Thanks for reply. I cross checked and yes in SIT it was UTF-8 while in UAT it was US-ASCII.
Would you like to give any inputs on whether we can go ahead and change the default encoding to UTF-8. Is there any potential issue or any care we should take before making this decision.
