Extract Emails and attachments
Hi ,
Our pega application is decommissioning and we want to export all the email and attachments in .eml or .html format files and store in a location where user can be able to access. Is there any way we can extract only emails and corresponding attachments.
I have done poc to extract email and send data via Rest service. But checking is there any OOTB way to do it.

I don't think there’s a direct OOTB way to export emails as .eml or .html with attachments, but you can achieve it by browsing Data-Corr-Email to get email content and saving .pyNote as an .html file. For attachments, use Link-Attachment and extract files from Data-WorkAttach-File. You can then store both using a data set or Pega repository to a shared location.

@PoojaPalla Yeah I tried this approach already .. I could able to extract emails and attachments. Wanted to check any OOTB way we can detach emails from Pega tables . Anyway Thank you for the response.

Pega does not have a direct out-of-the-box option to export emails and attachments as .eml or .html files, but you can build this using existing features. You can fetch all emails stored in the system from the "Data-Corr-Email" class and get the email body content. For attachments, you can get them from the "Data-WorkAttach-File" class. Then, using an activity or data transform, you can loop through each email, format the content as HTML, and write it to a file using the pxConvertStringToFile function. Similarly, you can extract attachments and save them to a shared folder. If you need .eml format, some custom Java may be required to generate proper email headers. You can also explore BIX to export email and attachment data for external processing
