Hello,

Yes, there is the column populator utility, which you could use to add data from the BLOB to a column that was exposed manually.  However, doing this through the application is generally better, as it takes care of everything for you automatically.  The column populator is mostly used for situations where, due to restrictions on the database end, you can't use the "optimize for reporting" option.
