Accessibility issues with icons when reading with JAWS
Hi
In the portal header we have a custom control within which an icon class is defined. When using the JAWS reader, the focus does not go to the control. (In fact, the focus does not go to any icon). If tabindex='0' is used within the icon class, it is focused. But we need to use CSS so that any icon can be focused. Please let me know how it can be achieved.

Hi,
The icon itself does not have any action. But it is placed inside a layout which has action on Click or Enter a Menu has to open.

If I use eg: buttons, the focus goes to it. But not for an icon. This control is placed within a layout which has action. But the icon it self does not have one.

If you're exclusively using tab, the icon will not receive focus and hence it will not read out any contextual information about it. Leaving JAWS in screen reader mode by using the down arrow and reaching the icon should read it without issue. But tab by design will skip right over it.

The configuration for the icon is similar to the Case Manager portal operator icon, and i see that we are not able to focus the operator icon even in the Case Manager portal.
