Why is the change case is forcing to route the case to initial stage rather than an alternate resolution stage?

I used approval utility to approve and reject a simple flow. When approves, moves to next stage, which is working as expected. But when rejected, i configured to chgange stage to an alternate stage and there it will send an email and resolve reject. However, once I save, one or other way the change stage flips to starting stage which is not a desired behavior.

Can someone help me, please?

A snap of your case type rule and 'change stage' flow rule will help. Also make sure you mark the Alternate stage as 'Resolution stage' with status Resolved-Failed on the case type. Do check if there are any 'entry validations' on your Alternate Stage
