Create multiple sub-cases through Automatic Case instantiation
Hi All ,
we are working on Pega 7.1.8
we have a requirement to automatically instantiate multiple sub-cases based on Dependency Fulfillment(when the parent reaches a status)
Case designer/Case type rule form doesn't have the provision for automatic instantiation multiple sub-cases.Is there any other way to achieve this without creating additional cases ?

case designer should be having an option (Number of instances allowed)
- Max Instances — Enter a positive integer to indicate the maximum number of instances of this case type that can be created.

- are the sub cases of same class or different class?

could you please refer 'Create cases Smart shape'
- or OOTB API pxAddChildWork.

Hi Phani,
- I believe Max instances is a validation rather than a provision for creating multiple sub-cases
- Sub-Cases are all of different classes
- "Create Cases"/pxAddChildWork will be done procedural within a process rather than automated.( I can start a sub-case and refer the flow shape or activity but this will create an additional case every time)

Unfortunately, there is no way to instantiate multiple sub-cases of same class by automatic instantiation.
You have to do it in your flow using either Smart shape or APIs as Phani mentioned.
Could i also know the business use case here as I would like to take this to my team as a potential enhancement.
Just on a side note, we create a work object for each starting flow for child, not sure if you could use this to your advantage,

Hi Pankaj,
We have a requirement to automatically instantiate multiple sub cases when the parent case reaches a certain status.Cases will be instantiated using data pages when the condition evaluates to true.
Given there is no possibility of multiple case creation,I am trying an alternate means of creating the first case thru automated instantiation and rest through process API.But it is a good feature to have( all the cases created make use of same starting flow)
