Pega Marketing 7.1.vmx is not a recognized file typ
This is the error I receive when attempting to open the .vmx file with VMWare Fusion on a MacBook. I’ve replicated it with two separate downloads.
Pega Marketing Introduction 7.1.vmx is not a valid maching configuration file.
I have confirmed the .zip file is 4.48GB and expanded it to the highlighted directory. Why is the file invalid? I have another vm running on this environment.

What version of Fusion are you using?
I just downloaded the VM and it is working fine in Fusion 7.1.1

Eddie, I am running 7.1. I have the same problem twice on different days. Not sure what's up. How did you unzip the .zip file? What app?

I used StuffIt Expander.

So I resolved the issue by using Stuffit Expander instead of 7zip for Mac. I can only assume that 7zip for Mac which has worked for me in other situations was unable to properly unpack the VM download properly. I did not change anything to the file other than use Stuffit to unpack it which took about 5 minutes. When using 7zip the unpacking process took 5 seconds and the all the files were there but obviously not valid. With Stuffit it just worked.

Yes, good news indeed. StuffIt Expander is slow but, I use it because I find it works the best across all the different archives on Pega Academy.
I'll work with our pubsliders to update the Exercise System Quick Start Guide so it's more clear that StuffIt Expander is the "preferred" archive tool for OS X.

Hi,
I am facing errors while trying to run the VMX file. The error I get is 'VMX file is corrupted'. I have downloaded this thrice since yesterday and everytime get same error. I extracted using 7-zip and am using version 12 VMware player.

Hi Shubhi
Can you please confirm the course and the file you are trying to download. The Marketing and Decisioning courses need VirtualBOX, and you will find a .vbox file not a .vmx file when you extract the zip file.
