Usage of pyAutoWordMergeTest in PegaSample

I don't understand the usage of pyAutoWordMergeTest and how to use it.

I'm doing word merging and trying to understand better what it is supposed to do and how it works, specifically pyAutoWordMergeTest

I would like to do a word merge but without launching word and then attaching the document automatically.  Not sure it is possible to do this without launching word though.
