Switching to latest Apple Push Notification service APIs
In November 2019, Apple announced that the Apple Push Notification service (APNs) will no longer support the legacy binary protocol as of November 2020. Apple recommends to update to the HTTP/2-based APNs provider API. Therefore, starting with the Pega 8.5 release, we will be switching to the HTTP/2-based APNs provider API.
How does it affect you?
All existing Pega Platform installations from 8.4 and earlier versions will fail to send push notifications to iOS devices for any application-specific events, such as Pulse comments or approvals.
What should you do?
To ensure that your applications continue to send push notifications for iOS users, you must update your Pega Platform installation to the latest patch release that includes the necessary changes:

If your Pega Platform release version is on 8.1.x, Pega 7 or earlier and uses push notification for mobile apps, we highly recommend to update to one of the above-mentioned releases and its patch version. Please get in touch with Pega Support for further details.
