Out of place update from 7.16 to 7.19
Can i get some more information on how an out of place update works?
I had thought that you make a copy of your rules schema, run the upgrade against the copy and then replace the old rules schema with your new updated one. However when I look at the Pega 7.19 update guide it says that you have to update both the rules and data schemas.
How do you continue to let your users use the applications if you are updating the data schema?

During Pega 7 data schema upgrade , you have to shut down your prpc servers. For ML updates you can minimize the downtime by using Pega 7 High Availability concept like rolling updates.

But the update guide says that the data schema need to be updated as part of the 7.19 update. Which i take to mean that you can't use a rolling update.

Yes you are right, currently even for the ML updates we need to bring down the server for data schema update. System Engineering team is currently analyzing whether it is possible to perform the rolling updates without bringing the server down.
