Issue

After updating to Chrome v135.0.7049.42, an empty pop-up window (without any file) for downloads is displayed. However, the file gets downloaded and can be viewed from the Downloads tab in the browser.

Symptoms and Impact

This leads to confusion about whether the file is downloaded.

Steps to reproduce

1. Configure an open URL in Chrome window for downloading a file.
2. Download a file.

Root Cause

This issue is caused because of Chrome update v135.0.7049.42.
For more information, search for ‘No Recent downloads icon in new window in chrome but visible on main window with new version update of chrome’ in Chromium issues site.

Workaround

Perform any of the following methods as a workaround for this issue:

• update to v135.0.7049.96 of Chrome,
• or, in the open URL in window configuration widget, change the window name to “_top” to avoid the pop-up window from appearing. Refer to the following image for details:

Solution

This issue is fixed in Chrome v135.0.7049.96.
