WebSphere 9 compatibility with Pega 7.2.2

Hello

One of our client wants to update to Pega 7.2.2 from Pega 7.1.9, Current Java version is 1.6 and current appserver is WebSphere 8. Post upgrade they want to use WebSphere 9. I checked in the platform support guide, it is mentioned that IBM WebSphere Liberty ( Proprietary information hidden or higher) is supported in PRPC 7.2.2 however only war deployment is supported. Does this holds true for WebSphere 9 also? (i.e. only war deployment is supported)

Sandeep- This is strange because as per the link below websphere liberty supports both war and ear.
