Update Closed cases to have attachments in ECM

Hi,

Is there way to we can open the closed cases and get their attachments(which is a part of Pega DATA) ported to ECM?

I'm wondering , why this is being handled as a post processing action i.e after case is closed , when it is possible to store attachments directly in the ECM store instead of Pega repository ?

Could you please share the complete use case so that appropriate solution can be proposed ?

It's because when we started Pega practice in our company we didn't employ the use of ECM and attachments got stored in DB. Now we have to migrate these old apps on Azure cloud and we are told to not to have attachments residing in DB at all.
