Unable to start process crm.exe in Pega Robotic Automation Architect Essentials course (using Windows10)
Hi there,
I am enrolled in Pega Robotic Automation Architect Essentials, working on "Working with Windows Adapters". I’m running on Windows 10 with Robotics studio version 8.0.1016.0.
I’ve got a problem with the interrogating with a windows application. When I try to start interrogation (in this case the Path has been set to CRM) I’m getting the following error: "unable to start process crm.exe". See the attached screenshot.
What I already tried:
- Reinstall Pega Robotics Studio
- Check whether CRM.exe was located in the directory specified
- Disabling virus-scanners
- Trying other windows applications
What can there be wrong?

There must be something wrong with your machine if you have completed all of the steps you mentioned and it is still not working. I suggest you open an SR with our support team, so that they may take a look at your machine. Please update this post with the SR number for tracking purposes.

Hi everybody
I manage to fix it: check the security rights of the CRM.EXE file and allow everyone or at least yourself with FULL CONTROL.
I am enrolled in Pega Robotic Automation Architect Essentials, working on "Working with Windows Adapters". I’m running on Windows 7 Professional with Robotics Studio version 8.0.1039.0. I’ve got a problem with the interrogating with a windows application. When I try to start interrogation (in this case the Path has been set to CRM) I’m getting the following error: "CRM.exe has stopped working". When I start CRM.exe manually it works without any errors.
I first made some test with an empty text file and an empty excel file. Both could be open by the adapter, but still the EXE was giving errors. I enhance on the security properties the user myself to have full control and now it works.
Regard Carlos

Please also try disabling the Anti Virus. Had issues starting both Windows and Web interrogation and they started working as soon as I disabled the Anti-virus. I am using Windows build 1709
