Creating temporary cases directly in Pega version 8.6 onwards is not supported. However, there is a workaround to create temporary cases on a case type rule form in Dev Studio by enabling the "Create temporary case that is not saved until a 'Persist case' step is reached" checkbox under the "Temporary Case (Deprecated)" section in the case type rule's advanced tab. It's important to note that this option has certain unsupported features, including attachments, audit trail, SLA processing, routing to different users, and child cases. The reason for deprecating temporary cases is not yet clear, and the Pega documentation team has been requested to provide a technical explanation (FDBK-82664 and US-443539 ).
The required workaround is listed in another user question on the forum.
"You can only create a temporary case for case types without the default Create stage. Case types that you create in Pega Platform 8.5 and later have the Create stage included by default. You can only create a temporary case for case types that you migrate from Pega Platform 8.4 or earlier. For more information, see The Create stage." Also see The Create stage FAQ

To save you time, here is a quick summary of the forum I referenced in here:
This forum post is a question posed by NickThomas about how to create temporary cases in Pega Platform 8.5.2 and later versions. The post mentioned that the create stage is now mandatory in case lifecycle, indicating a case as temporary is no longer possible, and the only way to create temporary cases now is if they don't have the create stage.
Eric Rietveld, a Principal System Architect, responded to the post, suggesting a workaround to go into Dev Studio and directly update the pyDefault case type rule. However, Eric mentioned that the workaround has certain limitations and requires working with deprecated features.
Another user, PEGAFREAK from Booz Allen Hamilton, suggested that an alternative solution to creating temporary cases is to create the case in an older version of Pega and then migrate it. PEGAFREAK has also expressed his disappointment over the removal of the temporary case feature and questioned the reason behind its deprecation.
The post also contains links to related content and questions about temporary cases, Pega Platform versions, and deprecated rules.
Hope this helps.

Create temporary case in pega case type
I believe you are referring to the functionality as documented in Creating Temporary Cases and Persisting Temporary Cases.

We have requested our documentation team for a technical explanation on why temporary cases are now deprecated. (FDBK-82664 and US-443539 )

@Sushant SFollow Data first approach case design pattern.
Create a case when it is actually needed procedurally. Refer to case design patterns in CLSA Course

@SushantSasmal Hi, There are different case patterns that are supported by PEGA though the temporary case creation is deprecated. You can try "data instance first" case pattern which demonstrates how the data related to a case persists before creating a case. This pattern focuses on creating a case only if necessary. Please check the below link for more details.
It is always recommended to use concepts and features available in the current version rather than using the deprecated feature whenever you are designing any module.
