Setting a property to null in a when rule
Hi,
Could you please tell if these two conditions in a when rule look for the same;
1- Setting a property equal to null by entering "" (double quotes) on right side of the equation, i.e. .pyName = ""
2- Entering no values on the second value side of an equation, i.e. .pyName =
Would these two things work for the same purpose of checking if a property is null?

Hi Marc,
We often use Property = "" condition in a when rule to check if the Property is null and it works.
We found that it is possible to check-in a when rule without entering any value to one side of a condition. So if somehow Property = (empty) condition is entered in a when rule, would that work the same as Property = "" ? If not what will the condition be looking for?

Hi Nazem, do you want to check if the property is null or if it is empty? I am imagining that it is the latter; in that case, I would not bother going for any other solution than expressing the logic as (example) .pyName has a value by using the standard in-built options and testing against the negation of the condition. If what you really want to check is if it is null, could you please explain the use case?

Forgot to complete my reply to answer the particular question you had, sorry about that. Leaving the field empty or using quotes will generate the same expression and return true if the property has no value, false if it does.
