Reset Startup Button: what is it for ?
In the listener Properties tab of listeners you will see a button called "Reset Startup", the Pega Help says the below
- Reset startup - Deletes all the instances from the class Log-Connect-AssignedNodes, so that listeners can be started.
can someone explain this in detail like what are the instances of Log-Connect-AssignedNodes, when to use this button.

Hi Dilip,
If you are changing the start up option and without using "Reset Startup", the start up option will not reflect to email listener even if you stop and start the listener.
If you Restart the server, then it will work even without using "Reset Startup".
Thanks

Hi Dilipan,
An instance of Log-Connect-AssignedNodes will have below information stored in PR_LOG table, as you are using Node based startup the same listener will be started from many nodes.
AssignedServerName
HostName
Listener Class
Listener Name
Listener Node ID
Node ID
I think It will keep a track of Listener and Node association in sense like one listener to one node; one listener to many nodes.
Thanks,

so clicking on "Reset Startup" will delete all the instances of Log-Connect-AssignedNodes or will it delete only the instances associated with that particular listener, just want to know the scenarious where this button might be useful.
It will delete only the instances associated with that particular Listener.

what is the impact of deleting these instances, will the listener stop running/restart (on the nodes where it is configured to run) when you click the "Reset Startup" button ?
Why don't you test it out and let us know.

Hi Vipin,
I tried clicking the "Reset Startup" button for a running listener, using the tracer i found that the "Reset Startup" is only deleting the instances of Log-Connect-AssignedNodes class, there was no impact on the listener.
As Murali suggested the help document does not give any information on which scenarios this button should be used.

Hi Dilipan,
I think 'Reset Statup' would be useful when you do not see listeners in SMA to start them (may be this happens especially when startup option is changed, say from Node based startup to Host based startup etc.).
Hi Vipin,
Help content provided in this scenario is not helpful. It would be more helpful if it is documented in detail about effects of clearing Log-Connect-AssignedNodes class instances. Also documentation about scenarios in which this button needs to be used will help. May be an enhancement/feedback can be created for this help article.

So instead of restarting the server after changing the start up option, we can use the "Reset Startup" button, please confirm.

Yes. after that just restart the listener based on the start up option(whether to start in single/multi node).
