pyStatusWork new value is not showing when the old cases are open

Hi,

 I   have two cases in a case type  where the status is New.   Now I need to change the status to Resovled.  I wrote the standalone activity  by uisng obj-open by handle and used property-set method and set the .pyStatusWork  to "resovled". When I run the activity in  clipboard it is showing the both status new one and updated one for pyStatusWork field. but  when i open the  instance from the casetype ,it still showing to  NEW instead of "resolved" . Version 8.5 pega is used.

Could any one help me how to  troubleshoot this issue.
