Pega 8.1 upgrade

Hi,

Our application is built on Pega 7.2.2 along with CRM 7.22 and we are planning to upgrade it on Pega 8.1. Below is our configuration:--

Application Server: IBM WebSphere Application Server/8.5
OS: Linux 2.6.32-754.3.5.el6.x86_64
JDK: 1.7.0
Database: Oracle Database 12c Enterprise Edition Release Proprietary information hidden.0

I would need some guidelines related to Pre-Upgrade Effort Assessment, Estimation etc. Also I want to know if we can change our application server to Websphere Liberty or not during upgrade process..

I think that in order to mitigate risk it will be good to make this activity in two steps rather than in one. It will be easier to determine if an upgrade was successful.

For the Pega 7 upgrade, there was an upgrade estimation tool available on the Pega Exchange.  Are there any plans to provide something similar for an upgrade from 7.x to 8.1?
