Pass data from one case to another when no parent/child relationship
Hi
I have a scenario where OnBoarding cases needs to be triggered for new joinees of a company. I have all the new joinees information collected in a CompanyAdmin case in a pageList 'newJoinees'. Now I have to trigger OnBoarding case for each of the new joinee from the CompanyAdmin BUT there is no parent/child relationship between them because CompanyAdmin is more of a data collection case and delegates the job to other cases. Completion of CompanyAdmin does not depend on the completion of OnBoarding case. Given this scenario, how do i create multiple OnBoarding child cases from CompanyAdmin? OOTB smart shape provides an option only for multiple child cases. Also how do i Propagate data or pass data to the Onboarding case when there is no parent/child relationship? Is it advisable to use smart shape to create multiple child cases but allow parent case to complete? OR is it a wrong case design? Can someone please clarify?

Hi ganesh
For each item in newJoinees list create a case using create case smart shape ad use page list newJoinees, so that for each item in the list it will create case.

Can you use an activity to loop through your page list and create the work objects using a data transform to copy over the desired data?

Thanks for the reply. Yes that will work. I am trying to use OOTB to the fullest extent possible and I was thinking why the option of creating multiple top level cases was not provided in the smart shape. If this design is acceptable then activity is the only way to create multiple top level cases as you suggested.
