Migration method to use to migrate from Oracle 12c to Oracle 19c
Hello,
We have to migrate pega existing applications from Oracle 12c to Oracle 19c. Some of them are in Pega 7.4. Some of them are in Pega 8.4
I saw that Pega will support any system that has upgraded from Oracle 12c to 19c, regardless of the Pega Platform version in the https://collaborate.pega.com/discussion/oracle-database-19c-supported-pega-platform-releases-84 article.
To go further, I'd like to know if there are there any recommendations to apply or constraints to respect to migrate pega applications from Oracle 12 c to Oracle 19c ? In Pega 7.4 ? In Pega 8.4 ?

I have been involved in migrating some internal apps ranging from versions 7.1 to 8.4, from Oracle 12c to Oracle 19c in the past couple of years.
Sharing some Oracle import and export info that we have used successfully:
Export at 12c server
expdp user/pass schemas=<schemaname> directory=dumpdir dumpfile=<schemaname>.dmp logfile=expdp_<schemaname>.log
Import at 19c server
impdp user/pass schemas=schema1 directory=dumpdir remap_schema=schema1:schema2 dumpfile=schema1.dmp logfile=impdp_schema2.log
More specific examples:
at oracle 12c server
expdp \"sys@prpc as sysdba\" schemas=v84slsr,v84slsd directory=DATA_PUMP_DIR dumpfile=v84sls.dmp logfile=v84sls.log LOGTIME=ALL
Next, create the Tablespaces & user(s) at the new server. Copy backup file to the new server, change file permissions as needed.
import at the new server (our DB team built a utility so that we didn't need to use the impdp command directly, here is info from the output when it ran)

After successful import job at the new server: Reconfigure the app server prweb.xml file to point to the new DB Server, copy latest oracle 19c ojdbc8.jar to the apps' lib directory, and restart app server. Verify that everything is working as expected.
WIth Oracle 19c use latest ojdbc10.jar with JDK11, or the latest ojdbc8.jar with JDK8, JDK11
