Messaging Host Issue
Hi, We are using nearly 30 prod machines. In almost every system we are facing messaging host issue not frequently but rarely and randomly. Any help is appreciated. Thanks,

@GangaR16584219 What specific issue are you facing? Have you installed the Pega Browser Extension or are you still attempting to use the legacy extension?

@ThomasSasnett We are using PBE and it is enabled. We are facing this issue randomly. Can you let me know what are the other things I need to cross verify.
Is there any way to identify for what reason we are getting the messaging host issue. Like is there any log file to refer.

@GangaR16584219 You can look at the RuntimeLog to see if there are any messages about the extension starting. In most cases, these messages, especially if they are sporadic, are caused by the application being started, but the initial page failing to load. This is usually the trigger for getting the messaging host to launch. You might start a faster application first (i.e. one whose start page loads quickly) to get the Messaging Host up and running before starting the slower applications.

When we face this issue, we are stopping the bot and restarting the system. In most of the cases it is working. But want to know on what reason it is failing and want to fix it accordingly. When we have messaging host issue, process "OpenSpan.Translators.Web.MessagingHost.exe" is not even getting started, tried closing the chrome and opening it manually but the above process it not getting created.
It is getting created only if we stop the bot and restart the system. I was able to get the logs and took the screenshot and attached here. In the current use case, we are using only one application, can't use any other. Can you elaborate more on using fast applications concept.

@GangaR16584219 I don't believe the exception you posted is the same issue. I would need to see a full log to offer any insight. As for what might cause the issue, it could be security related. If you have some process that blocks messaging host or otherwise prevents it from starting. If you have a stuck process in Chrome where it isn't closing properly; that could cause the issue.
As for launching Messaging Host, I have noticed that the first time you start an instance of your browser after a restart of the machine, messaging host doesn't actually start until you load a web page. If you launch a URL that takes a long time to load its homepage, I have seen timeout messages before.

Yeah, that I missed to mention, only after launching the chrome, process: "OpenSpan.Translators.Web.MessagingHost.exe" is getting started. Can you tell me in most of the cases which process will block messaging host process. In the chrome perspective how to identify that the process has stuck and that lead to messaging host issue.

@GangaR16584219 If that process is launching, then nothing is blocking it. If it was being blocked, it would have been by your security software.

If the security software is blocking the process, it should block every time right.
After having messaging host issue, if we restart the system how come the security policies getting changed. In general, they won't change until and unless someone modify it.

@GangaR16584219 Correct. If it were being blocked, it would never work. I do not think that is the issue you are seeing. I think this would be best handled through a support request as they could examine your issue. In general, assuming you have followed the instructions for configuring the Pega Browser Extension and associated group policies to allow it to be enabled, and have ensured that your security software is not blocking the messaging host or the extension, then there may be something else in your project or environment that needs to be examined.
