Hybrid Environment Upgrade
Does anyone have any experience of performing an upgrade where
1. Pega needs to be moved to cloud
2.DB remains on-prem
Cloud is customer managed has dedicated ExpressRoute to On-Prem DB.
Any suggestions on this hybrid architecture/issues faced/success stories specifically as upgrade guide does not really mention that it is not possible(just Datacenter of DB and Cloud must be in same geolocation.
6.x to 7.x upgrade
Single schema to Split schema change.

Hi Arpita,
It is not clear from the description whether you already have the Hybrid setup done and you would like to upgrade the Pega version or you want to do both the hybrid setup and upgrade together.
Since these 2 are unrelated activities you should separate or break them in 2 different tasks. Do the hybrid setup first and once successful perform upgrade or perform upgrade and then move the app server to cloud.
I understand that the application/web server is deployed on cloud and DB reside in your On-prem environment with connectivity between your on-prem DB and cloud is using expressroute circuit.
Technically it should be possible and you should be able to have the hybrid setup that you have described. I am not aware anyone using such hybrid setup.
As long as the Application server deployed in cloud is able to access the DB where your pega schema resides without any latency. we do not foresee any issues
DB response times are critical for Pega. It is recommended the Datacenter of DB and Cloud must be in same geolocation to avoid network i/o or latency issue.
In terms of upgrade, the upgrade script should always be run from the same network as your database.
