How EST and EDT conversion works when the user profile configured with America/New_York Time Zone
The system I am developing is writing some data into an external SQL Database configured to keep the date time value in GMT. Meanwhile users in Pega have the time zone as America/New_York in their profile. If I save (on August 24th 2017) a date time value as August 01st 2017 EDT 6 AM and it goes to database as 2017-08-01 10:00:00. When the user retrieve the value it shows as 2017-08-01 06:00:00 in the user interface.
Question here is, if the user try to retrieve the same value somewhere in December 2017 (after the time zone change as GMT-5), will Pega show as 2017-08-01 06:00:00 or 2017-08-01 05:00:00?

I've tested this after the time zone changes. Pega correctly converts the time considering the date portion.

I think it should work as it is in December, you may have to mind the column datatype in your external DB (here I believe you mean by external DB as DB other than PegaRULES).
Pega will save datetime as timestamp, so I believe there shouldn't be a problem.

Our external DB (SQL Server) is having the data type of the column as Date Time and the SQL Server Time Zone is configured to GMT. When we save the data it goes as Date Time value in GMT time zone.

Hello,
In your case, I would expect that you would continue to see 2017-08-01 06:00:00, because that date is an EDT date for America/New_York, but if you did something like add 120 days, it would become 05:00:00, because you would stop being EDT and become EST.
