External jar files not being loaded at Pega server startup.

After upgrading from 7.3 to 8.5, and doing a test can see that external jar files are not being loaded at server startup.
There is a list of jar files provided in DSS - Pega-RULES • compiler/defaultPaths, seperated by : and works fine in 7.3
Can see that in the 7.3 startup logs, there is an entry similar to below for each jar:
Jar added to compile time classpath /opt/apps/xxxx-pegacrm/webapps/yyyyy/WEB-INF/lib/xxxx-core-2.6.2.jar
The DSS has not changed but dont see the line in Pega 8.5 start up logs. As a result a number of libraries which rely on these jars are not getting compiled.
Appreciate if anyone has any additional info around this.

Hi Rajesh,
The recommended way to incorporate third-party Java functionality is to import it into the database using the Application Distribution -> Import method.
The following are the advantages of having external jar files in database is that we need not to place the jar files in all the application server nodes in multi node environment. If we need more nodes to improve application performance, the additional configuration is not required for new nodes. Please find below the help document which captures external jar import process.

Thanks for your response.
We have around 100 jars deployed as a war application on Tomcat folder for integration. The war is frequently updated atleast once a month.
So not straightforward to import all of them unless we do by an utility. Also we need to take a DB restore point in case of a rollback.
Do appreciate your suggestion on importing to DB as an preferred option to avoid file based deployment on each node.
I will raise an SR as I didn't see any documentation that this functionality is withdrawn.
