External Data flow deprecated in 8.5?

Why External Data flow is deprecated in 8.5, is there any replacement for this feature?

All the PDN link I found says it's deprecated, but no indication of the reason.

Similarly Intelligent Segmentation (Analysis project ) is also deprecated, any replacement for this, and the reason for deprecation?

 

Any inputs on the above will be useful.

Regular dataflows should be used instead of the External Dataflows. The idea behind External DataFlows  is interesting but we chose to focus on strengthening  the regular dataflows instead.

Thanks Ionut, for the reply.

Can you tell us if any extra features has been added in Regular data flow so that it can satisfy the need of External Data Flow?

The reason I am asking this because I intended to do a POC for use case which EDF use to solve i.e executing some decisioning logic including predictive models on Big Data infrastructure and get the response back.

 

Additionally what about Analysis project Deprecation, any reason behind that?
