Does the Archive and Purge process lock the tables to be processed?
Hi All,
I have a question regarding Archive/Purge on Pega.
When Archive and Purge running, does it lock the table to be processed? can the user still access the table or wait until the archive and purge process is complete? does it only lock the data that will be processed and other data can still be accessed by the user?

@OdiS9903 , are you referring to the legacy Purge/Archive Wizard or the new Case Archival feature? See the attached screenshots.

@OdiS9903 What Pega version are you on? Legacy Purge/Archive Wizard is depracted for Pega Cloud clients from 8.6, and for on-premise and cloud-choice clients from 8.7. We recommend clients to not use Legacy Purge/Archive Wizard, instead upgrade to a version that supports Case Archival, otherwise wait until you can upgrade to start archiving.
The new Case Archival ( from 8.3.6 onwards), locks only the records it is processing, not the entire table.

@Chetan.Chaudhari Thanks for your response Chetan. Do you know how to find out the table relation or dependency table of a Ticket/Interaction/etc that are being Archived/Purged?

@OdiS9903 , which Pega version are you on? Are you using any framework - Customer Service?
I'm attaching a schematic showing which tables the new Case Archival archives, this shows the relationship of a generic Work object with tables. For a specific relationship, I'm guessing you can use the Data Modelling capability in the platform. Someone else on the support forum. cc: @pageb
