Credentials for downloading the logs from SMA not working
We are using Pega 718. I'm able to log in to SMA with the credentials defined for the diagnostic user. But when I try to download the logs it challenges for authentication. I tried to use the same Diagnostic user credentials but it does not work.
I know we can disable security but wanted to know why these credentials are not working. Did anyone face similar issues?

Actually I just followed the doc to create a sma user with the role of PegaDiagnosticUser: https://docs-previous.pega.com/pega-72-platform-installation-guide-jboss-and-oracle. It simply works with local connection. Not sure it was because of our earlier doc was inaccurate or something you missed. I did not even have to restart the server (as indicated in the doc). Good luck!

what is your platform? JBoss 6.x? remote or local connection? Does it work if you use admin user for JBoss admin console? I checked my WAS 8.5.x remote SMA connection using WAS admin console admin user no issues there.

It JBoss EAP 6.3. Its a local connection. I'm able to login to JBoss console with the same credentials. Not sure why it doesn't work when I download the logs.

Just tried my local connection with JBoss 6.4.5 (latest released), got 401 error even when I tried my admin user. Looks like a privilege issue with LogFileAccess mbean.

Any way to workaround this?

I added a new user as application user, with the group as PegaDiagnosticUser, and I was able to use that account to download logs from SMA.
The Installation Documentation says this
'The default deployment configuration assigns the PegaDiagnosticUser role to administrative users.' which will be a wrong statement in this case. As I mentioned in my original query we have users in Administrative role who are not able to access the logs from SMA.

Thanks for pointing that out. I think it is a doc bug.
