Content management for Cases Pega 7.1.7

We have been running applications on Pega 7.1.7 (IBM on-premise) since 2016 and now we are planning to migrate it to the cloud (and upgrade to Pega 8.x too). The question is if we now enable "Content management for Cases" for CMIS Repository in the Application, how Pega is going to react to the cases that are already closed? If Pega does not consider those cases and start putting the attachments into the repository after CMIS is enabled, is there an alternative solution to put the old cases into the repository too?

You cannot move the attachment content to CMIS. But, in 8.3 a capability has been added to migrate the case attachment data to S3 repository.
