Cascading dynamic select issue - refresh section (run activity) combination is not working properly
HI Team,
We are having an issue after upgrade, we have a cascading dynamic select where on the actions tab of the 1st dynamic select we have - refresh section (run activity) and we have implemented the logic in the activity to populate the values in the second drop down.
Issue :
Sometimes reload section is triggering first and later activity steps are getting executed which has caused to populate the 2nd drop down as an empty value.
Ideally Refresh Section - (Run activity) combination should first trigger the 'activity steps' to execute and later the 'reload section' should trigger to populate the values.
But here we are sometimes facing an issue like Reload Section is triggering first and later the activity steps are getting executed - is it a product Issue?

You might consider refactoring your cascading dropdowns to use a pattern as shown here: https://community.pega.com/video-library/support-guide-how-troubleshoot-issues-cascading-dropdowns
This is generally much more performant than performing section refreshes.

Do you have caching enabled in the dynamic select config ?

Thanks for the update !
Yes we have the Caching enabled for both dropdowns, I have verified the video but this doesn't help in our issue.
We are not going to upgrade the Dynamic Select to Pxdropdown - we are still using the 6.2 deprecated control.
The issue is this combination is working fine in 6.2 but not in 7.1, Our issue is - why the reload section is triggering before executing the activity steps ? which is in return the cause of populating the values in 2nd dropdown.

Try putting the two Dyanmic Select in a single section and dont put any other component in that section.
Then try refreshing this section only with onChange.
This sounds like a performance issue and I would also recommend you to check your dynamic select activities to see whether any tuning can be done there for performance improvement or not .
Lastly, if it is happening with selected number of dynamic selects then instead of sticking to deprecated controls, its better to change the control to latest dropdown and use is a better option.

I am facing the same issue in 6.2 SP2
I need the screen refresh to automatically populate few entries in the section based on the values selected in the cascaded drop downs.
