When I run the pxExtractDataWithArgs OOTB BIX extract activity with Extract name : Sample, Class name: PegaSample as parameters , I'm getting the error message like java.lang.NullPointerException. But when I checked the BIX logs, Iam able to see an error message like Error: Unable to get the list of Extract rules. Note: I have configured the Pega-BIX: 07-10 rule set in my application rule. Also I was trying to give the folder path as /home in this extract rule( doing a private edit). I understand that if at all this folder has write permissions, the file will be written to it. But before that I'am not sure why such error has been thrown out.Can anyone of you people help on this.

What version of BIX and Pega are in use? I know there is an issue in one version at least with that activity throwing a NullPointerException (may be related to running it via an agent, but I don't recall offhand).
As far as the Unable to get the list of Extract rules issue...
Are you just opening pxExtractDataWithArgs, supplying the parameters and running it?
It may help to see the entire log.
I'm using 7.2.2 version. Yes we are giving the parameters for the activity and running it. We also found the same error in the log. I hope the issue is with the product. Pega BIX has versions till 07-10-27. Previously the application context was updated with Pega-BIX:07-10 and now I have restricted it to Pega-BIX:07-10-17 on a hunch. But surprisingly it worked fine and generated the report. But I just changed the context on a guess because I saw pxExtractDataWithArgs present in two versions 07-10-21 and 07-10-17. So, I randomly restricted the Pega-BIX as 07-10-17 in my application context. It worked fine at first place. But sometimes it still throws nullpointer exception. Kindly share your thoughts on this issue. I hope it will be raised as SR either to get hot fix or some other work around.

I wouldn't recommend running with Pega-BIX:07-10-17 as this could cause other problems.
Hfix-33102 is for Pega 7.2.2 and addresses a NullPointerException when using pxExtractDataWithArgs. So that may resolve the issue, but seeing the full log from when you have the issue will help confirm if it. You'll have to open a support request to obtain the hotfix or troubleshoot further if it does not resolve the issue.

Yes Nick. You are absolutely correct. I just want to let everyone know that the issue is with the product and how it differs between the versions. As you said, we have raised a SR. Let us hope for the best.. Thanks for the suggestions.
