Allow Filters in Report Widget
Hi Guys,
Report Widget is so simple but powerful that we will be using it to allow the user and/or a non Pega Developer to configure it.
There is however a big missing feature : it should be possible to change report filter values directly from the widget itself. It's already possible to apply column filter, which is a nice thing, but report filters are really missing.
Moreover, if those report filter values could be saved in user preferences, it would be amazing.
Any plans to include such features in a next release?
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Check the "Display filters using custom section" option on the Report Viewer tab of the report definition. You could then present the filter option with so that team members will have the option to change it.

You proposal will work but is only accessible to developer/designers.
What I meant is "simply" have an option in report widget to allow end users to change report filter values, and to save these values "somewhere". Changing filters values is available in the report designer, but helas not in the report widget.

We now have completely moved our UI design to a dashboard-based design. Every menu entry leads to a dashboard where users can make intensive use of the report widget : every list or chart can thus be (re)defined by users themselves. This approach is very flexible and allows non-developpers to define what they want to see on screen.
Are there any plan to upgrade the report widget as suggested above (report filters + save per user)?

I believe the OOTB report widget is generic, and meant to be customized by the application developer. For instance, a developer of one of the Pega frameworks would have to know ahead of time what report was going to be presented in the widget in order to provide access to the filters for that report.

Could be indeed but... We try to keep our Pega environment as close as possible to the OOTB platform and to delegate as much as possible to the users. Report Widget is very powerful as it allows users to build their own dashboard with their own reports without any development activity. However paramatrized filters are only accessible from a report view, not from the report widget, which is what we would like to see included in a next Pega version.

I would like to second this idea. The Pega platform is all about low or no code build outs. This would be a huge addition to the application that would enable the users to have data faster as well as be further self empowered. Right now we have to build custom filter section after custom filter section to allow the users to cleanly filter by dates and other things as the OOTB filters are not ideal or not availble to the end user.

Thanks very much for this feedback; as Pega continues to evolve its offering this is extremely valuable. There is currently a large effort underway to update the front-end technology as well as some user functionality in this space, and as that work continues we will look to enable as much of this type of user activity as possible.
