Could you also provide a document with screenshots illustrating your issue?

Can you provide details of which upgrade documentation you followed?  Was this on-prem?

Can you confirm what you are stating:  is the issue that your section with a Dropdown Control had its format updated automatically?

Note that as of 8.3.5 we added default style as standard for pxDropdown control and class standard in runtime.   (BUG-600488f: Format override does not work of dropdown.)

If you migrated then the issue might be that your  overridden "Standard" format for Dropdowns is not being picked up.

For dropdown control design time, control format should be auto populated as "Standard" in both template and non template rendering.  We added default style as standard for pxDropdown control and class standard in runtime.

I therefore believe that this issue is not due to corruption or assembly problem but is rather the result of the original control format that was used.

We have seen a similar behavior where the dropdown icons are missing following an update of the platform version due to the Standard format dropdown.  

In these cases the solution has been to add the icon styling to the Standard format dropdown in the skin rule, and this is the solution that we recommend for you.

Next Steps:

1.  Just for clarification which version of the UI Kit is your application built on?

2.  If you remove the "Standard" format and leave it blank in Dev then does the dropdown show the icon as expected?

The local change I recommended is as follows.  

Add the icon styling to the Standard format dropdown in the skin rule 

Alternatively if removing the "Standard" format from the control also corrects the issue then you could use this option - Note that this would involve updating the sections instead of just the skin rule.  

You can add the required styles to your skin rule dropdown format. If you are using the Standard format then you will need to override the version being inherited from the pyEndUser skin if you are not already.

You need to add 2 styles to the Background section of the format configuration.

These are padding-right and background with the values 32px and #fff url(webwb/caret-down.svg) calc(100% - 8px) 50% no-repeat respectively.
