Pega 8.1 - install issue - install.bat auto closes within secs of double clicking without follow-upopening of Pega install window

Hi,

I have been trying to install Pega 8.1 personal edition on windows 7 professional. However, as mentioned in title, the install.bat auto closes within secs of double clicking without opening the Pega install window. I have went through a similar previous thread:

but following all the solutions listed there has not helped in this case

This generally happens if you do not have JAVA_HOME set. Instead of double clicking the install.bat, open command prompt,  navigate to the directory which contains install.bat and try invoking it from cmd.

C:\Users\abc\Desktop\PegaMedia\scripts>install

This will show you the reason why its failing, alternatively you can insert PAUSE after the :ERROR to pause the script when ever an error occurs.
